As Digital Marketing was first introduced in the 1990s in the US, it came a bit later in India because the country didn’t adopt the concept until Google was incorporated. Hotmail soon followed, but nothing could compete with Google when it came to search engines.
In 2006, the Indian digital space consisted of more than 40 million internet users. Microsoft also joined the search engine race soon with Live search to give Google and Yahoo a tough competition. Google went on to introduce AdWords and AdSense, which changed the whole online marketspace. This attracted the Indian business community, and they started to interact with each other. This introduced the super information highway, which marked the earliest days of Digital Marketing in India.
